The initial response for the ‘LOVE GENEVA’ movement has been overwhelming. Over a hundred likes in the first 24 hours of being on Facebook. All of the original LOVE GENEVA bumper stickers were distributed, but the response was so great, we ran out before reaching even half of the stores (new stickers have been ordered in order to stock the places we missed). If you would like a free LOVE GENEVA sticker, stop into most downtown businesses and they will be happy to give one to you (if they have any).
But this project isn’t just about bumper stickers. It is about being agents of change. Even little acts can make a big difference if we work together for the economic and social development of Geneva. So we are working to schedule our first CASH MOB next month.
What is a CASH MOB? Basically, it is when a group of people assemble at a local business and buy items to support that business and the overall community. If a hundred people all show up during the announced time (usually a two hour window) and spend as little as $5 each, that is a much appreciated $500 infusion into that business.
So, in a few weeks, we will announce – both here and on Facebook – the date, the time, and the names of the businesses for our first CASH MOB. Until then, keep spreading the word and keep loving Geneva. It’ll love you back.
