We’ve got a new batch of stickers in, plus special small semi-customized stickers: eat local, drink local, and shop local. The fourth is a secret sticker that will be unveiled soon enough!

A great start to Geneva Night Out

The bitter cold didn’t thwart a great start to Geneva Night Out – this town’s new monthly art crawl. The crowds were out, the art was beautiful, and the music was jumping! Here is a posting from the Geneva Night Out FB account:

Geneva, you are a special place. To the artists and the business owners and the attendees who braved the chilly air to take in the sights, sounds and tastes around downtown: THANK YOU! The first Geneva Night Out exceeded our expectations, and we’re just getting started. Please continue to support your local businesses and artists, and we’ll see you again on March 1st!

Thanks to everyone who made it out! Let’s do it again next month!!

Madia’s says “THANKS!”

The good folks at Madia’s send their thanks to everyone who made it out to the cash mob last Saturday. Madia’s was very excited about the event — and were even distributing cookies and juice to show their love for Geneva. They report that this is typically a slow time for them, but the cash mob turned a usually bad day into a good one. So thanks to everyone who braved the cold and came out. Maybe in two weeks time the weather will be a little warmer. Either way, we’ve got the next cash mob scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd!

Until then, start getting excited for the very first GENEVA NIGHT OUT — a monthly art crawl held in Geneva on the first Friday of each month from 5 – 8 pm. We’re a proud sponsor and can’t wait to see to everyone out and about on February 1st for the very first GENEVA NIGHT OUT!

Next Cash Mob — MADIA’S!!!

The first Love Geneva CASH MOB for 2013 is…

What is a CASH MOB? When a group of people assemble at a local business and buy items to support that business and the overall community.

Madia’s is a Geneva institution, the last locally-owned full-service grocery store in the area. We couldn’t think of a better location for the first CASH MOB of 2013 (don’t worry, downtown! We’ll be returning soon enough). So come on down this Saturday, Jan. 19th between 11 am – 1 pm. Visit the best butcher shop in town, pick up some groceries, enjoy one of the last neighborhood grocery stores in the region, and spread some Geneva love! See you there!!!

Loving Geneva, Shopping Local

Wow, what a difference half a year makes! In less than six months, LOVE GENEVA has hit the ground running. We’ve distributed over 1500 free LOVE GENEVA bumper stickers around town. We’ve have well over 600 friends on Facebook. And we’ve organized eight highly successful Cash Mobs for downtown businesses. Other downtown businesses report a notable uptick in sales during Cash Mob days, which indicates that people don’t just target the Cash Mob store, but share the love around town. And we’ve just received word that we’ve been accepted to SHIFT YOUR SHOPPING – a campaign associated with the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA), a national non-profit organization helping communities successfully operate “buy local” campaigns. This will help us network with like-minded organizations and come up with new strategies for helping support and nurture Geneva’s economic and social sustainability.

But 2012 is only the beginning. We’ve got lots more work to do — but plenty of ideas! We’re excited about the GENEVA NIGHT OUT campaign, which kicks off in February. We’re looking forward to a year full of new Cash Mobs. And more. Much more!
But for now, we want to wish you all our sincerest thanks for the support you have already shown to the LOVE GENEVA campaign. Proving yet again that if you Love Geneva, it’ll love you back!
And as you continue your holiday shopping, we want to encourage you to keep shopping local and supporting Geneva’s merchants, artists, and craftspeople.   xoxo
